Heather Paxton - Music Teacher

Meet Heather

I've been singing since before I can remember — imitating my mother, driving my brothers crazy with show tunes all week. From "One Day More" to "Belle," music has been my constant companion for over 40 years.

I studied at Wayne State University and have spent my career doing the most rewarding work I know: one-on-one teaching. I believe every student deserves a teacher who meets them exactly where they are — whether you're building courage for your first solo or preparing for All-State auditions.

My students have performed on stage at Disney World, won regional and state competitions, earned college scholarships, and one former student now owns her own performing arts school in Australia. That's what this work is about — a love of music that follows you for life.

"Music should feel like freedom, not a chore. That's been my philosophy for four decades, and it's why my students stay for years — not months."

Many of my adult students played in school, stepped away for 10, 15, even 20 years, and then came back to music. If that's you, you're not behind and you're not alone.

Not every student wants recitals or competitions. Many students learn simply because they love to play or sing for themselves, and that path is fully supported here.

More Than Lessons — A Musical Journey

🎄 Recitals

Two performances per year (Christmas & Spring) for family and friends — your student's moment to shine.

🌍 Community Service

Summer recitals supporting Earth Day and Festival of Trees — music with purpose.

🏰 Disney World

Students performed at Magic Music Days (1999 & 2008) — because excellence deserves celebration.

🥇 Competitions

Piano and vocal competitions via Michigan Music Association — building confidence through challenge.

My goal is for every student to reach the point where they choose the music they love — and play it beautifully.
